Derma Sciences Novel XTRASORB HCS Dressings Receive Federal Reimbursement Codes; Join Foam and Classic Dressings for Complete Coverage of Product Category
Business Wire, Sept 02, 2010
PRINCETON, N.J. — Derma Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSCI), a medical device and
pharmaceutical company focused on advanced wound care, announces that
all five products in its novel line of XTRASORB HCS Dressings have
received Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS) codes. These
codes A6234 through A6238 were awarded by the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services (CMS), and allow healthcare providers to bill for
the dressings beginning immediately. XTRASORB HCS makes use of a
patented super absorbent polymer hydrocolloidal suspension within a
hydrogel matrix. Owing to this unique combination, the dressings can be
used on dry wounds all the way to moderately exuding wounds acting as
a smart dressing? by providing moisture when the wound is dry and by
absorbing moisture when the wound is exuding. With the awarding of these
reimbursement codes, Derma Sciences has codes that cover its entire
XTRASORB product line, including XTRASORB Foam for treatment of moderate
to heavily exuding wounds and XTRASORB Classic, for heavily and extra
heavily exuding wounds.
Derma Sciences Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward J. Quilty
said, With reimbursement in place and product now in our distribution
center, we are confident that demand for the new XTRASORB line
extensions will be robust. XTRASORB HCS is able to absorb as much as
four times the amount of wound drainage as leading hydrocolloids
dressings currently on the market. Additionally, given its unique
ability to management two different wound environments, we anticipate
that XTRASORB HCS will provide savings to the health care system by
taking the place of two dressings. The dressings will permit fewer
dressing changes due to significantly higher absorption, requiring less
nursing time, and potentially leading to better healing outcomes due to
less disruption of the wound bed. Sales of these products began this
month, and we expect them to contribute to our overall Advanced Wound
Care sales moving forward.?
HCPCS codes are used by Medicare and monitored by CMS. They are based on
the Current Procedural Technology (CPT) codes developed by the American
Medical Association. Wound dressings and other supplies cannot be
reimbursed through Medicare without set HCPCS codes. Additionally, most
private health insurance companies follow the lead of Medicare with
these types of products. Derma Sciences estimates that approximately 50%
of the potential market for XTRASORB relies on HCPCS codes.
About XTRASORB
XTRASORB is a line of novel super-absorbent wound dressings. The core
super-absorbent polymer technologies dramatically improve the
capabilities of the dressings versus conventional moist wound dressings.
Whereas other absorbent dressings (including foams, abd pads, and other
cellulose-based dressings) rely on spaces within the dressings to fill
with fluid, XTRASORBs super-absorbent polymers bind fluid and convert
it to a gel. The distinct advantages this offers over traditional
first-line dressings are:
-
XTRASORB dressings are able to hold more fluid
-
XTRASORB dressings lock fluid inside the dressing, helping to decrease
the risk of maceration
-
XTRASORB dressings lock fluid inside the dressing, helping to keep the
harmful contents within wound fluid away from the wound & periwound
skin

The side effects of treatments are as unpredictable the disorder?s cause. That is why vitiligo treatment should always be done with utmost care and patience.
A person?s own tissues mat be used for surgical treatment through autologous skin grafts. The doctor removes portions of the pigmented skin and then replaces the affected skin with it. Possible complications for this treatment include infections, scarring, a cobblestone appearance, or a spotty repigmentation. The greatest risk would be the skin?s failure to repigment at all.
Another surgical treatment using the pigmented skin is skin grafts using blisters. The patient?s pigmented skin is exposed to heat, which then causes blisters. These blisters are cut off and then transplanted to the depigmented area.
Another simpler option is tattooing or micropigmentation. This is usually done on patients with dark skin. Tattoos, however, tend to fade in time and may even lead to blister outbreaks.
Lastly, vitiligo can be cured surgically through autologous melanocyte transplants. Multiplying a patient?s pigmented skin through a special cell culture solution that grows melanocytes does this.

These containers may be binders or boxes that are specifically designed to meet a client’s storage needs.
There are companies that sell recycled compact disk jewel cases. There are companies based in Hong Kong that offer a wide range of recycled cases that are very low priced compared to the newer ones. While the quality is not as good as buying new cases, they are 20 to 30% cheaper.
In summary, damaged CD jewel cases can be recycled. There are companies, especially in China that used recycled materials to make compact disk jewel cases. The growth in the industry has led to increased production and cases made out of recycled materials are in demand because they are less expensive than those made of new materials. Slimmer cases are preferred over bulkier cases, and they cost less to ship.

But the resource that gives the entrepreneur the most success is the the resource that resides within them AFTER they have experienced some success.
Its difficult to verbalize, but Napolean Hill in “Think and grow rich” identified two distinct types of imagination. One was called creative and the other was called synthetic.
Creative imagination was capable of creation in the biblical sense. The creative type of imagination create visions that have never been seen ever before.
The synthetic imagination is much more common and is actually a composite of different existing concepts that your mind creates that are nevertheless original if only based on existing realities.
The resource that experience gives you as an entrepreneur resides in both places. You may have heard the expression, “nothing succeeds like success” Here’s the meaning of that saying.
When you stumble across success, whether its your own or you read about somebody else’s, you go through a recording experience not dissimilar to burning a CD. This experience creates a file (so to speak) that is put away and replayed when existing circumstances create a play of that file.
